How C4WS Venues Run

Each church venue has a church coordinator who sits on the C4WS Management Committee. The Church Coordinator is responsible for preparing the venue, creating the volunteer rota, leading their team and giving vision to their team of volunteers. The Church Coordinator is at the night shelter every week and is frequently the Team Leader of a shift. The Team Leader is the volunteer in charge of any shift at one of the church night shelter venues. They are responsible for their team of volunteers and the guests during that shift. They will liaise with the Project Manager. A volunteer is a local person who has given their time and energy to come and serve at C4WS. 99% of the C4WS work force are volunteers.
Many of our venues have showers and each church has an area for recreation containing one or more of the following: table tennis, pool table, board games, packets of cards, books, TV and newspapers.
A Resource File containing the following information is kept at each venue:
  •     Services & activities offered at the other 6 participating church venues
  •     Local Day Centres and projects helping homeless people
  •     Housing Advice
  •     C4WS policies
  •     Volunteer guidelines
  •     Emergency telephone numbers including: nearest hospital, local police station, duty social worker, minister to be called in an emergency
